The Delicious Food Show — doesn’t that sound like you’ve gotta go to it? I had the opportunity to attend the launch press conference for this new show a couple of weeks ago, and talked with Nadine Spencer, the show director.
The press conference was held at the newly opened La Societé on Bloor St. West — I took the opportunity to take some photos of the beautiful environment.
The show is being organized and run by an organization that has a lot of experience running consumer shows: MMPI Canada also runs The Interior Design Show, Toronto International Art Fair, One of a Kind, and others. I expect they’ve done their homework and we’ll see an interesting production in the fall.
The events run from slightly silly (wanna stomp some grapes, baby?) through to demonstrations and seminars with celebrity chefs, some hands-on cooking experiences (and eating experiences) and some grouped areas of interest: teas and coffees, a spice market, and a kitchen of the future.
Names on the lineup include Lynn Crawford, now running Ruby Watchco in Leslieville, Afrim Pristine of The Cheese Boutique, Mark McEwan, Rose Reisman, and Corbin Tomaszeski — if you watch The Food Network, you’ll be familiar with many of the names.
They have three charity partners in the event: The Stop, the Junior League of Toronto, and Kids in the Kitchen. I hope they all benefit from the show.
